In collaboration with the municipality of Buggenhout and Arcadis, we developed a Spatial Policy Plan to guide the future spatial development of the municipality, involving both residents and entrepreneurs. The plan aims to shape the spatial layout of Buggenhout’s nuclei and designate areas for agriculture, forests, and nature. It provides a clear vision for the future, including guidelines for where and how construction can occur, as well as concrete proposals to preserve the identity and vitality of the village centers.

We tailored a methodology to each phase of the project. Through digital surveys, dialogue sessions, a cycling exploration activity, and an informational event, we guided participants step by step through the process. By translating complex policy objectives into clear and accessible concepts, we ensured that all stakeholders could engage meaningfully.

The methodology and communication strategy were refined at each stage in consultation with a sounding board group, composed of key stakeholders and interested residents. This inclusive approach allowed us to reach a broad audience. The project resulted in a unanimously approved Spatial Policy Plan, complete with actionable steps for implementation.
