Masterplan for Mons’ Ring Road and City Gateways
The City of Mons and SPW (Service public de Wallonie) are developing a forward-looking masterplan for the redesign of the city’s ring boulevards and main gateways. Improving road safety, enhancing quality of life, and prioritising cyclists and pedestrians are at the heart of the project.
Createlli designed and facilitated a participatory process involving residents and key stakeholders to ensure the masterplan reflects local needs and expectations. Through a range of participation methods tailored to different target groups and scales, we gathered insights around four key themes: mobility, living and working, leisure, and the identity of the ring boulevards. A digital survey mapped public opinion, challenges and opportunities, while these findings were explored in greater depth during a stakeholder workshop. The results were then brought together and shared with the wider community during a public information and dialogue event.
The insights gathered provide a strong foundation for a widely supported masterplan, developed through a carefully designed process centred on participation, trust and a shared vision for the future.
