Viaduct of Wilrijk: From Restoration to the Future

The Wilrijk Viaduct is located between Aartselaar and Antwerp and forms part of the A12 motorway. Now 56 years old, the viaduct is no longer in optimal condition. The Agency for Roads and Traffic (AWV), together with the City of Antwerp, therefore launched a study into the future of the viaduct. The study examines which maintenance measures are currently needed and which future scenario — above ground, at ground level or underground — offers the best solution in terms of safety, liveability, accessibility and economic development.

For this complex, multi-year project involving a wide range of stakeholders, Createlli developed the communication and participation strategy. Residents, businesses, schools, associations, policymakers and other stakeholders are involved throughout the study and design process, ensuring that their knowledge, needs and ideas help shape the further development of the project.

Createlli is responsible for preparing, communicating and organising the participation activities, and for ensuring that the insights gathered feed into the ongoing study process.
