Livable neighborhood Mol
The unique social housing neighborhood of Keirlandse Zillen in Mol is in need of a thorough upgrading. A vision was developed by our partners Cluster and Maarch as part of the Flemish Master Builder’s call for neighborhoods. The abundant greenery and the network of slow roads were reviewed. The integrated vision of the future also aims for better social cohesion and greater experiential value. In doing so, the child acts as a compass. Together with the Woonboog, we chose a unique approach tailored to the residents. As the design would not only bring spatial but also social change, an ambassador group with residents was assembled. This group was at the helm of the participation process and supported on-site communication and the involvement of neighborhood residents through various participation moments. With input from the children and residents, Cluster’s master plan was created for the city of Mol to move forward with. The moments gave a boost to contacts between residents. The ambassador group remains a fixture in the neighborhood and will participate in the final implementation.
