Mixed-use zone Geraardsbergen
The Province of East Flanders, in collaboration with the City of Geraardsbergen, is working on defining the boundaries of the small urban area of Geraardsbergen. The zone between the existing business park (Diebeke) and the village of Schendelbeke has been designated as a mixed-use area, aimed at creating additional opportunities for businesses and employment. The project involved developing a vision and corresponding design for the layout of this zone, while carefully considering the quality of life for local residents and the area’s landscape features.
Together with the designers from Adoplan and Maarch, Createlli devised a strategy to actively engage residents, property owners, and businesses in the vicinity. We prioritized open and transparent dialogue around the conditions set by the demarcation process, the village’s qualities, key considerations, and future potential for the area.
This collaborative approach fostered mutual understanding and trust, resulting in a design proposal that has gained broad support from the Province, the City of Geraardsbergen, as well as the residents and businesses of Schendelbeke.
