Neighborhood lab Borgerhout
The Borgerhout district has allocated €100,000 to each of its six neighborhoods, empowering residents to take action on issues that matter most to their communities. The key condition is that these initiatives must be supported by the district and emerge from a district-wide dialogue. What sets this approach apart is that residents themselves are responsible for developing communication and leading much of the participation process within their own neighborhoods.
Createlli co-developed the project concept with the Borgerhout District and provided support by coaching both staff and the district board. We created tools to gather ideas and identify needs, as well as formats for initial consultations with the district and the Neighborhood Lab. As a result, projects in all six neighborhoods have been initiated by residents, and implementation—either by the residents or the district—has begun. A key outcome of this process has been the strengthening of neighborhood networks, fostering greater community collaboration.
