Accessibility plan city center Tienen
Since October 2020, the new mobility plan for the city of Tienen has been in effect, featuring 75 actions aimed at improving traffic safety and livability. A key element of this plan is the development of an accessibility strategy for a safer, more vibrant city center. The city is committed to working closely with residents, merchants, associations, schools, and other civil society actors to co-create this plan.
Createlli, in partnership with the Arcadis consortium, was awarded the project and together we designed a participatory process to engage a broad and diverse public. Throughout the stages of traffic studies, drafting the multimodal accessibility plan, and developing the action plan, we facilitated an intensive exchange with all stakeholders.
We established a sounding board group with 20 civil society organizations, as well as a panel of engaged citizens, with whom we held workshops throughout the process. Additionally, we conducted a survey with over 2,000 participants and organized tailored workshops with schools and merchants.
Through this collaborative approach, the city developed a concrete action plan with clearly defined priorities, fully endorsed through broad public participation.
