Sint-Niklaas aims to transform the Puyenbeke sports and recreation park into a regional attraction. In addition to building a new swimming pool, the site will be expanded and upgraded into a dynamic park featuring a wide range of sports facilities and a 5-hectare play forest.

For a project of this scale, the city embraced its forward-looking vision: “Together, we build the city of tomorrow.” We led the participation and communication process, ensuring that both athletes and local residents could help shape the park’s development. A wide variety of participation moments and tools were tailored to different target groups, emphasizing inclusivity. Visually impactful and positive communication throughout every phase of the project ensured strong engagement and understanding.

The input and feedback gathered during the design process enabled us to integrate thoughtful solutions addressing mobility, street redesign, and the specifications of the swimming pool. The result is a widely supported, sustainable design for a sports and recreation park that offers social and recreational value for everyone.
