Resilient + water + landscape

With Cluster landscape architects

The Resilient Water-Land-Scape project explores what is needed to prepare river basins for the impacts of extreme weather events, such as water bombs (like those in July 2021) or severe droughts (summers of 2019 and 2022). In four pilot areas, local coalitions receive resources from the VLM (Flemish Land Agency) and support from process facilitators and experts in agriculture, water modeling, and design research.

Createlli guides the area-based coalitions in south-central West Flanders and the Gete region to develop an integrated ambition and action plan. Together with coalition leaders, we organize consultations with experts, Flemish authorities, local governments, water managers, farmers, and residents. These include expert sessions, local workshops, and dialogue moments. Createlli also coordinates collaboration between experts and facilitates the various consultation moments.

The project aims to deliver a widely supported ambition plan, actionable steps to be implemented over the next four years, and recommendations for scaling the approach to other regions in Flanders.
