Redesign Diestsesteenweg
In collaboration with AWV, the city of Tienen, and Arcadis, we are working on the redesign of the N29. The challenge lies in balancing safety, traffic flow, and local livability. The project touches on sensitive topics such as heavy through traffic, potential expropriations, and the loss of parking spaces, sparking strong emotions among stakeholders.
To ensure the process is inclusive and informed, we developed a step-by-step approach to engage residents in the design process. We began by gathering insights through an online survey, complemented by on-site research and in-depth listening interviews. The findings formed the foundation for discussions among partners and guided the creation of initial design options.
During a dedicated dialogue session, these design options were presented and thoroughly discussed with residents and business owners. Transparent communication and open conversations helped foster greater understanding of the proposed solutions and their potential impacts.
The valuable input we received expanded the project into a more integrated, area-focused initiative. Moving forward, the redesign will continue to evolve in close collaboration with local stakeholders, ensuring the solutions align with their needs and expectations.
