Rue du Maréchal Leclerc, once a vibrant access road and the heart of Saint-Maurice, had gradually lost its charm as shops and services dwindled. The area was increasingly defined by outdated buildings and a car-dominated environment. To rejuvenate the neighborhood and revive its commercial and socio-cultural life, the municipality, located at the entrance to the Paris metropolitan area, assembled a team to breathe new life into the area.

To combat the stigmatization faced by local residents, we incorporated them into the development of a Master Plan for the neighborhood. Through an inclusive process involving various forms of participation, we gathered insights from 450 participants.

During the analysis phase, residents contributed valuable local knowledge, complementing the municipality’s ideas on climate adaptation and image enhancement. This collaboration resulted in three distinct variants of the Master Plan. We tested the pros and cons of each scenario during a workshop, which included presentations followed by discussion tables. Based on the feedback, the team selected a final scenario that could be further developed by a designer.
