Europa park
In response to the outdated and deteriorating condition of some of Bilbao’s playgrounds, the municipality decided to renew the playground at Europa Park by giving its youngest citizens a unique opportunity to rethink and redesign the space.
Local pupils and students from nearby schools became designers for a day. They were first introduced to the project’s goals and context, followed by exploratory walks through the park. Afterward, they engaged in a creative drawing session, where they sketched their ideas for the new playground. At the end of the day, the children presented their designs to their classmates.
The children’s insights, wishes, and needs were carefully documented and played an important role in shaping the final design of the new playground, ensuring it reflects the vision of those who will use it most.
