Accessible city centre Hasselt
For years, Hasselt’s city center, located within the small ring road, had been largely car-free. However, there was still room for further improvement. The city council aimed to develop a comprehensive plan to make the area even more pedestrian-friendly.
The project centered around creating a practical, widely-supported plan that incorporated the diverse ideas and needs of both residents and visitors. To achieve this, we conducted an online survey on our Createlli Lab platform, designed in collaboration with our target groups, to explore ways to improve the accessibility and attractiveness of the city center for everyone. Several participation and input sessions were organized to ensure that the survey reflected the community’s perspectives.
Using the survey results, the team engaged in dialogue with residents, local businesses, and other stakeholders. This broad participation allowed the City of Hasselt to present a well-supported plan that faced minimal opposition.
