Redesign Ninoofsesteenweg
The Ninoofsesteenweg in Dilbeek and Lennik is undergoing a major redesign, a project that carries significant implications, including the potential expropriation of around 30 homes and 300 plots of land. Given the sensitive nature of the project, we prioritized the early and extensive involvement of stakeholders.
In spring 2024, on behalf of the Agency for Roads and Traffic and the municipalities of Dilbeek and Lennik, we launched an intensive participation process. We tailored various engagement methods to suit different target groups, ensuring broad input.
We consulted a sounding board group of about 20 representatives from civil society organizations, held one-on-one meetings with approximately 180 property owners, and organized an information and dialogue session for around 130 local residents and other interested parties. Additionally, we conducted interviews with bus users along the N8 to gather their insights.
All the feedback was compiled into a report for the study office, which was also made publicly available on the Roads and Traffic Agency’s website to ensure transparency. A follow-up project may be launched in spring 2025.
